Dr. Furlong earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, in San Francisco. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Los Angeles Jules Stein Eye Institute, and finished an advanced fellowship in glaucoma, cataract, and intraocular lens surgery at the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City.

Dr. Furlong has a lifetime certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology, is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is a proud member of the Montana chapter of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Academy of Ophthalmology, Phi Beta Kappa, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

In his practice, Dr. Furlong specializes in cataract surgery, anterior segment surgery, the management of intraocular lens problems, and the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. In addition to his work with patients, he’s also an adjunct professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the Moran Eye Center.

Dr. Furlong is very active in glocal outreach, and travels 2-3 times a year with the Moran Eye Center team to conduct patient screenings, perform surgical procedures, and teach sight-restoring treatments to local physicians. His global outreach work has taken him to Ghana, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Guatemala.

When he’s not working, Dr. Furlong likes to fish, snowboard, play hockey, float rivers, and beekeep.
